Controlled dangerous substances in Schedule II, III, IV, and V must be electronically prescribed unless exemptions exist.

The following are examples of exemptions from electronic prescribing:

Veterinarians
Those experiencing temporary technological or electrical failure
Compounded Prescriptions
Prescriptions being filled on federal property

If any of those exemptions specified in statute apply to you or your practice, prescriptions must be written on prescription forms issued by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

Yes, your prescription pad is issued to you and you can use it at any location that you prescribe from.

No, official prescription forms from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control can only be used for controlled dangerous substances. In 63 O.S. 2-309(D)(1) a "Prescription" is one issued by a practitioner to a pharmacist for a controlled dangerous substance for a particular patient.
I am a pharmacist and I received a prescription that was not issued on the official forms from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control, how should I proceed?
Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statute says "A pharmacist who receives a written, oral or facsimile prescription shall not be required to verify that the prescription falls under one of the exceptions provided for in paragraph 6 of this subsection. Pharmacists may continue to dispense medications from otherwise valid written, oral or facsimile prescriptions that are consistent with the provisions of this act."
I am a pharmacist and I received a prescription with different information written on it, how should I proceed?
You should contact the prescriber to verify the prescription and information added. Prescribers can add demographic information to their prescriptions but it is best practice to verify the information is correct.
I am a pharmacist and I received a prescription with missing information, how should I proceed?
You should contact the prescriber to verify the prescription and obtain the missing information. Oklahoma Administrative Code allows you to write the phone number, DEA number, license number, and other demographic information on the top of the paper prescription.
I do telemedicine from another state but my patients are oftentimes in Oklahoma, do I need OBN prescription pads?
Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control prescription forms will only be provided to those with a physical address in the state of Oklahoma. The address will be based on the primary address registered with Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control.
If I qualify for an exemption, how do I order official prescription forms from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control?
You will order pads through your registration account at www.obnregistation.ok.gov.
If I receive official prescription forms from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control, where will they be delivered?
Official prescription forms issued to a registered practitioner shall be imprinted only with the primary address listed on the registration of the practitioner. Such prescriptions shall be sent only to the primary address of the registered practitioner.
